"In order to paint something, I need to spend a great deal of time observing it... looking, taking in all its details, its essence, everything about it. Then I can try to express it by reflecting its colors, shapes, textures. Flowers are such a wonderful excuse to use bright, exciting colors. We love them partly because we know they will soon be gone from us... This too shall pass."
